Tips for a Successful Trip
Here are some recommendations to ensure a smooth sailing experience with children:
- Establish safety rules: Go over the charter’s rules before the trip and remind everyone as soon as you board the boat.
- Life vests are a must: Everyone should wear them when outside the cockpit.
- Always ask before leaving the boat: Children should never go off the boat without permission from an adult.
- Stay away from the front: Children should not go to the front of the boat unless accompanied by an adult.
- The skipper is in charge: The skipper’s instructions must always be followed.
- No running or roughhousing: Running around or playing roughly is not allowed at any time.
- Swim in pairs: Children should always swim with a buddy.
Set a rotation for adult supervision: Ensure that different adults are in charge of the kids at different times.
To keep the children entertained, consider short sailing trips. Instead of a long 4-hour sail, break it up into two 2-hour sails, with a stop at a beach for playtime and water activities (like kayaking or snorkeling).
We also offer kayaks for rent (50 € per week), which both children and adults will enjoy. Remember, life jackets are required for everyone when using the kayaks. It’s a good idea to bring snorkeling gear for the kids as well.
Chartering with Children – A Family Sailing Adventure
Many of our clients wonder if it’s a good idea to bring kids along on a yacht charter. They worry that the children might feel confined or that their presence could disrupt the vacation for everyone. While these concerns are understandable, in our experience, children often love being on a yacht, enjoy following the boat’s rules, and are typically well-behaved due to the excitement of the experience.
Simply put, kids love boats!
Sailing with children can be a fun and rewarding experience. Most kids, regardless of age, enjoy the boating environment. It’s usually during their younger years that the foundation for a lifelong passion for sailing is established.

If you’re planning a family sailing trip, we highly recommend opting for a catamaran. These boats are ideal for children – they offer plenty of space inside for play, they don’t rock too much when changing direction, and kids especially enjoy the forward trampolines and jumping off the stern.
We can also install a children’s safety net for an additional fee of 50 € (please let us know at least 2 weeks before your trip). The same goes for life vests – kindly inform us of the children’s weight in advance so we can provide the correct size.
