You can always charter a yacht with a skipper. But if you’ve enjoyed sailing and dream of taking the helm yourself, our sailing school SEA PILGRIMS is here to share our extensive experience and guide you on your journey to becoming a confident skipper.
Training at SEA PILGRIMS Captain School is structured as a 10-day intensive course and includes several key stages. The entire program takes place onboard a yacht and a catamaran, sailing through stunning locations such as Turkey’s Lycian coast and the Greek island of Rhodes.
Each day begins with a theory session delivered as a lecture by the instructor, followed by practical application of the material at sea. Students immediately put their knowledge into action, gaining hands-on experience from day one. With only four participants per group, everyone gets ample time at the helm, ensuring full engagement and a deep understanding of all topics. Unlike many other schools, we guarantee that no one will miss the chance to practice due to time constraints, bad weather, or other limitations.
Morning lectures are followed by open discussions with the instructor, where all questions are addressed in a live, collaborative setting. Onboard the yacht and catamaran, you will observe, learn, and perform exercises under the instructor’s supervision.
You’ll gain practical skills in all types of mooring, sail handling, knot tying, yacht maneuvering, and making coastal and offshore passages — including night navigation. The program also includes mandatory training in radio communication and proper watchkeeping procedures.
A single week at sea may not make you a seasoned captain just yet, but the first few hundred nautical miles you’ll sail during this course will stay with you forever. Upon completion, students will improve their qualifications and receive an ISSA Yacht Skipper license along with a Radio Operator certificate.
